Imperial, 1960 The Good Companion 4

$0.00 AUD

Imperial typewriters were made in Leicester in England and the Good Companion model was first launched in 1932 . It was named after J. B. Priestley's book " The Good Companions" which had been published at the same time and the collaboration with Priestley helped sell a huge number of Imperial typewriters .

This model is a number 4 and was made in 1960 in England and has a metal body in a light "sea foam " green colour with black keys and dark green shift keys and space bar .It has the Imperial name on the front and " Manufactured by the Imperial Typewriter Company Ltd Leicester  England " on the back. This one types with the slightly larger sized  " pica " font so has 10 letters to the inch.

There are a few very minor marks to the metal body of the typewriter, but generally this typewriter is in a very good condition for its age . The silver chrome work has a nice shine with one blemish on the paper bail rod and it has its original metal spools and types well .

This typewriter has been professionally cleaned, serviced , adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and fitted with a new Group 1 ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on.

We also include a photo copy of an original product booklet .

We can supply Group 1 typewriter ribbons when required from $12.50 each including postage. Available in plain black, red/black and a range of other colour options in a Universal spool. You would then just rewind the new ribbon onto the existing metal spools.  A ribbon will last you a long time . To give you an idea , in an office environment with someone using a typewriter professionally a ribbon would last them around 3 months .

It comes with it's original tan coloured carry case which is has a clasp to close at the front and a working handle .There is some discolouration ,signs of wear to the chrome fittings and some minor marks in places on both the inside and outside but again this carry case is in a very nice functional condition. We also include a copy of an original instruction booklet .

The typewriter measures 28cms by 30 cms by 11 cms high  .

This is a wonderful Mad Men style typewriter in a fabulous colour and in good working order and with its special writers keys a very collectable model.

"My Olivetti arrived a couple days ago. Got a chance to test it out and it works like a dream (you wouldn’t guess it was nearly half a century old). Thank you for including the original metal spools, it adds a great touch to the machine. Looking forward to adding another typewriter to the collection sometime soon..." - Jake
