1957 Olivetti Lettera 22

$0.00 AUD

The Olivetti Lettera 22 was designed in Italy in 1950 by Marcello Nizzoli and proved to be extremely popular throughout the 1950's winning numerous design awards. It was very portable for the time as it measures 30cm x 30cm x 8cm high and has the usual all metal casing and is in a pale blue/green enamel colour with round black coloured keys and a taupe coloured paper plate on the carriage. This model was made in 1957 in Glasgow rather than in Spain, Italy or Mexico and has the Olivetti branding on the right side of the carriage and the Lettera 22 logo on top of the ribbon cover and has the standard "elite" sized type face giving you 12 letters to the inch.

It types very well with a light touch and is in a good overall condition with just a few small marks to the metal body.

This typewriter has been professionally serviced, cleaned, adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and fitted with a new top quality American made ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on.

We can supply Universal typewriter ribbons from $13.90 each including postage. Available in plain black, red/black and a range of Universal ribbons in other colour options. You can use the Universal spools in the typewriter or rewind the new ribbon onto the metal Olivetti spools that are currently in the machine.

It comes with it's original Olivetti carry case which is is a good functional condition, There are signs of age related wear to both the inside and the outside. The two zips, the two handles and the popper closure work well. There is a small tear to the left hand zip at the front corner but the zip does still work.

We also include a photo copy of a Lettera 22 instruction manual.

This is a nice quality early working Lettera 22 from the 1950's.

"My Olivetti arrived a couple days ago. Got a chance to test it out and it works like a dream (you wouldn’t guess it was nearly half a century old). Thank you for including the original metal spools, it adds a great touch to the machine. Looking forward to adding another typewriter to the collection sometime soon..." - Jake
