A wonderful 1957 green coloured Halda portable typewriter with forest green keys, space bar and carriage knobs and silver chrome trim with red highlight stripe . It is in full working order and we have given it a clean ,professional service, adjusted and tested it and fitted a new ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on. Halda typewriters are all metal and beautifully engineered machines giving you a great typing performance. This one has the standard "elite" sized font giving you 11 letters to the inch.
This machine is in a wonderful condition with just some small signs of discolouration in places to the green "crackle " finish metal paintwork mainly at the back corners . It has the lovely Halda logo at the front . It comes with modified metal spools and a copy of its manual. The spools have a particular design and you would just rewind new ribbon onto these spools when required.
Group 1 typewriter ribbons can be purchased from us when required . New ribbons are priced from $12.50 including postage and are available in black or red/black . We also have a range of other colour options in Universal ribbons. A ribbon will last you a long time . To give you an idea , in an office environment with someone using a typewriter professionally a ribbon would last them around 3 months
The typewriter measures 30 cms by 27 cms by 12 cms high and comes with it's original green carry case . The typewriter locks into the base board and the cover clips down over the top . The fastening and handle both work well , although the original exterior part of the handle is missing. There is some signs of wear to the covering of the case but it is in a very functional condition.
All in all this is a very collectable Swedish Halda typewriter in a lovely condition with a nice typing touch. The Halda portable was used by Ernest Hemingway as well as the many Royals he owned and used . Channel your inner Hemingway on this wonderful 1957 typewriter !
