A lovely 1951 Olympia SM 2 typewriter in a relatively rare bergundy colour with black keys, space bar and carriage knobs. Olympia was a German brand of typewriter that was known for their great quality and ease of use. This one types in the standard Olympia "pica" sized type face giving you 10 letters to the inch.
The typewriter has been professionally cleaned, serviced, adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and fitted with a new top quality American made Universal ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on. As its original rubber platen was in a poor condition we have had the old rubber professionally replaced with brand new rubber.
The SM 2 's are all metal and beautifully engineered machines giving you a great typing performance. This one is in a very nice condition with just a few very minor marks to the paintwork, mainly just at the front left corner of the ribbon cover. It has the Olympia logo in silver on the right side of the carriage and the manufacturers details on the back.
It comes with a copy of the manual.
We can supply Universal typewriter ribbons when required from $13.90 each including postage. Available in plain black, red/black and a range of other colour options. You can put the plastic Universal spools in or rewind the new ribbon onto the metal spools that are currently in the machine.
It measures 27 cm by 28 cm by 12 cm high and comes with its original wooden carry case with black covering. The handle and clasp to close work well. The case has some small signs of wear and marks to mainly the inside, but it is all fully functional.
This SM2 is classed as a portable but is quite heavy and if you are wanting something to carry around a fair bit this may not be the best option, but if you want a well made and solid machine for extended typing projects then this is one to consider, particularly with its new plated fitted.
