A lovely 1951 West German olive green coloured Olympia SM 1 typewriter with round black keys, space bar and carriage knobs and dark green shift , back space and margin release keys. Olympia was a German brand of typewriter that was known for their great quality and ease of use. This one types in the slightly larger Olympia "pica" size of type giving you 10 letters to the inch . The SM1's were the start of Olympia's very successful SM range and are relatively rare these days.
The typewriter has been professionally cleaned, serviced , adjusted and tested . It is in full working order and fitted with a new Group 1 ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on.
The SM 1 's are all metal and beautifully engineered machines giving you a great typing performance. This one is in a nice condition with just a few very minor marks to the paintwork. It has the Olympia logo in silver on the right side of the carriage .
It comes with a copy of the SM2 manual.
We can supply Group 1 typewriter ribbons when required from $12.50 each including postage. Available in plain black, red/black and Universal ribbons in a range of coloured options. A ribbon will last you a long time and to give you an idea , in an office environment with someone using a typewriter professionally a ribbon would last them around 3 months
It measures 27 cms by 29 cms by 13 cms high and comes with its black coloured wooden carry case which is also in a nice condition with just a few marks and signs of wear on the inside and the outside.
This SM1 is classed as a portable but is quite heavy and if you are wanting something to carry around a fair bit this may not be the best option , but if you want a well made and solid machine this is one to consider.
