1950 Imperial - The Good Companion No 2

$0.00 AUD

A 1950  Imperial Model T ( Tabulator )  typewriter in good working condition.

Imperial typewriters were made in Leicester in England and the Good Companion model was first launched in 1932 . It was named after J. B. Priestley's book " The Good Companions" which had been published at the same time and the collaboration with Priestley helped sell a huge number of Imperial typewriters .

This model is in a charcoal black colour with a crinkle effect to the paintwork on the metal body. It has the traditional black and silver chrome surrounds to the keys with dark creme coloured letters and numbers. There is the Imperial Royal Warrant crest on the top right, as well as  " Manufactured by the Imperial Typewriter Company Ltd Leicester England " on the back and the "Imperial  Model T " logo on the front above the keys. This one has the slightly larger  " Pica " sized  type face giving you 10 letters to the inch.

There are only a few very minor marks and discolouration to the body. The silver chrome work and the keys are also in a good condition with just some slight wear to a few. This model has a $ sign key as well as the £ sign and some accented keys as well.

This typewriter has been professionally cleaned, serviced, adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and fitted with a new top quality American made black ribbon so it's ready for you to start typing.

We can supply Universal typewriter ribbons when required from $13.90 each including postage. You would then rewind the new ribbon onto the existing metal spools.

The carry case is also in a very good functional condition, with just a few marks and signs of wear mainly to the inside. It has a latch to close the case and outer leather part of the handle is now missing, but the internal metal part still remails making it functional. You can keep the typewriter on its base board which is attached by two hand screws or you can remove it from the board if you wish. We also include a photo copy of an original instruction booklet .

The typewriter measures 29cm by 29cm by 12 cm high.

This is a wonderful early 1950's typewriter in a good working order and condition for its age.

"My Olivetti arrived a couple days ago. Got a chance to test it out and it works like a dream (you wouldn’t guess it was nearly half a century old). Thank you for including the original metal spools, it adds a great touch to the machine. Looking forward to adding another typewriter to the collection sometime soon..." - Jake
