This rare Empire Junior typewriter was made in Switzerland in 1939 and is in reality a Hermes 2000 model made for the British Typewriter Co who had a licence agreement with Palliard in Switzerland for the UK market .This one is in a lovely shiny gloss black colour with wonderful round green keys .
This typewriter has been professionally cleaned ,serviced, adjusted and tested . It is in full working order , types well and is fitted with a new Group 9 ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on !
We can supply Group 9 typewriter ribbons at £4.95 each including postage. Available in plain black, red/black, blue and purple. You can drop the new spools in or rewind the ribbon onto the original metal spools . A ribbon will last you a long time and to give you an idea , in an office environment with someone using a typewriter professionally a ribbon would last them around 3 months .
It is in a good general condition for its age ,with just some small marks and touchups to the paintwork on the metal body and space bar . The silver chrome work does have signs of wear in places mainly on the carriage and the right hand end of the carriage. It has the fabulous Empire lion logo on the front and agents details on the back.
We include a copy of an original instruction booklet for the Hermes 2000 showing all its features and giving tips such as changing the ribbon. The body of the typewriter measures 27 cms by 30 cms by 12 cms high and comes with a black coloured wooden case which has two chrome metal clasps to close and a handle . The case has a few marks on the inside and out and there is some wear to some of the chromework but is generally in a nice functional condition.
This is a lovely and well made working typewriter in a classic colour and is relatively rare due to the low numbers ever manufactured under the Empire brand name.
