This is a wonderful shiny black enamel coloured Corona 3 Special folding portable typewriter and was made in 1933 in the USA. Corona 3's where made between 1912 and 1941. They have 3 banks of keys with the letters and numbers in black on a beautiful vintage dark creme colour. Each type bar has three letters, numbers or figures, so that the 3 banks of keys cover all the normal keyboard requirements. The keys on this one are all in a nice condition with just some slight discolouration to a few and it has the Corona Special logo on the front above the keys. There is also the " LC Smith & Corona Typewriter Company Inc " on the front edge and the Corona logo on the back. The black enamel paintwork is in a generally very good glossy condition for its age with just some signs of wear in places and it has had some small touch ups to the paintwork. The metal chrome work is also in a good condition but has signs of fading and wear in some places. It has its two original metal spools and the nuts to the top of each. The typewriter measures 27 cm wide (carriage) by 24 cm deep and 15 cm high, when folded out for use and when the carriage is folded from back to front the whole unit measures 27 cm x 22 cm x 10 cm high. This model has the slightly larger Pica sized type face giving you 10 letters to the inch.
It comes with it's original carry case which is in a good functional condition. There are signs of wear on both the inside and outside and the front half flap has been at some point glued and fixed. This does not affect it's use as a carry case and the handle and closure fitting both work well.
This lovely looking Corona would do well for writing letters, poetry or doing smaller typing jobs as well as being a wonderful display item. For precision typing and larger typing projects this may not be the best option.
This typewriter has been professionally serviced, cleaned, adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and fitted with a new top quality American made ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on.
We can supply Universal TW38 typewriter ribbons from $13.90 each including postage. Available in plain black, red/black and a range of other colour options. You would then just rewind the new ribbon onto the existing metal spools.
This is a highly collectable folding vintage typewriter in a classic black colour and would make a wonderful and special gift that makes for a great display item and can be used for small typing projects.
