This lovely Remington No 2 portable typewriter was made in 1931 in England from parts imported from the US and one of the most innovative features is its "pop-up" typebars which are raised for use via a side lever and lay back flat for storage.There is the usual Remington Portable logo on the top right in gold and the details that is was assembled by British Labour from US parts at the back.
The typewriter is in full working order and in a generally very good condition for its age with a nice black enamel gloss paint finish to its metal body .It does have some small signs of wear and discolouration to the paintwork and some minor marks in places .The silver chrome work does also show some signs of wear and has lost its shine , but is totally functional . The type bars raise up and it types well .The glass topped keys are all in a good condition and are all of a beautiful and classic vintage off white colour with chrome silver surrounds and black letters and numbers .There is some wear to the chrome on the W key .
This typewriter has been professionally cleaned ,serviced, adjusted and tested . It is in working order and is fitted with a new ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on . We also include a photo copy of a Remington Portable instruction manual .
Group 1 typewriter ribbons can be purchased from us and cost $12.50 including postage . You can purchase any manual typewriter ribbon for this machine and rewind the new ribbon onto its original metal spools so you can use two tone red and black ribbons on this machine as well as other colours options taken off Universal spools.

The wooden carry case with covering is in a good condition with just some minor marks and discolouration . The original handle has been lost but we have fitted a new leather handle. The latch works to close the case . You can take the typewriter off its base board if you wish by simply undoing 4 screws .
The typewriter measures 28 cm across by 28 cm deep and 8 cm high .
