This is a wonderful shiny black enamel coloured Corona 3 Special folding portable typewriter with green panel detail and was made in 1931 in the USA .Corona 3's where made between 1912 and 1941 . They have 3 banks of keys with the letters and numbers in black on a beautiful vintage dark creme colour .Each type bar has three letters, numbers or figures , so that the 3 banks of keys cover all the normal keyboard requirements . The keys on this one are all in a nice condition and it has the Corona Special logo on the front above the keys . There is also the " LC Smith & Corona Typewriter Company Inc " on the front edge and the Corona logo on the back.The black enamel paintwork is in a generally very good glossy condition for its age with just some signs of wear in places and it has had touch ups to the paintwork mainly on the front left side. The metal chrome work is also in a good condition but has signs of fading and wear in some places .It has its two original metal spools and the nuts to the top of each. The typewriter measures 27 cms wide ( carriage) by 24 cms deep and 15 cms high , when folded out for use and when the carriage is folded from back to front the whole unit measures 27 cms x 22 cms x 10 cms high .
It comes with its original carry case which is in a good functional condition with a sound handle and metal closure. There are some small signs of wear ro the leatherette covering in places.
This lovely looking Corona would do well for writing letters , poetry or doing smaller typing jobs as well as being a wonderful display item.. For precision typing and larger typing projects this would not be the best option.
This typewriter has been professionally serviced , cleaned , adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and fitted with a new Group 1 ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on .
We can supply Group 1 and Universal typewriter ribbons from $12.50 each including postage. Available in plain black, red/black and a range of other colour options. You would then just rewind the new ribbon onto the existing metal spools .A ribbon will last you a long time and to give you an idea , in an office environment with someone using a typewriter professionally a ribbon would last them around 3 months.
This is a highly collectable folding vintage typewriter in a classic and rare black and green colour and would make a wonderful and special gift that makes for a great display item and can be used for small typing projects.
