This is a wonderful shiny black enamel coloured Corona 3 folding portable typewriter and was made in 1921 in the USA. Corona 3's were made between 1912 and 1941 and have 3 banks of keys with the letters and numbers in black on a beautiful vintage dark creme colour. Each type bar has three letters, numbers or figures, so that the 3 banks of keys cover all the normal keyboard requirements. The keys on this one are all in a nice condition with just some slight discolouration to a few and it has the Corona logo on the front edge ( slightly faded ) , above the keys, patent details on the back as well as lovely Corona Stork logo on the carriage. The black enamel paintwork is in a generally very good glossy condition for its age with just a few marks and signs of wear at the front edges and at the back. The metal chrome work is also in a good condition with just some fading and pitting due to age in some places. It has its two original metal spools and the typewriter measures 25cm wide (platen) by 22cm deep and 15cm high, when folded out for use and when the carriage is folded from back to front the whole unit measures 30cm x 22cm x 10cm high and its has the slightly larger "pica" sized type face giving you 10 characters to the inch.
It comes with it's original carry case which is in a good functional condition with a working closure fitting and sound handle. There are some age related marks and signs of wear on both the inside and the outside and the front flap has been taped on the outside edge.
This lovely looking Corona would do well for writing letters, poetry or doing smaller typing jobs as well as being a wonderful display item. For precision typing and larger typing projects this may not be the best option.
This typewriter has been professionally serviced, cleaned, adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and fitted with a new top quality Universal American made ribbon ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on.
We can supply Universal typewriter ribbons from $13.90 each including postage. Available in plain black, red/black and a range of other colour options. You would then just rewind the new ribbon onto the existing metal spools.
This is a highly collectable working folding vintage typewriter in a classic black colour and would make a wonderful and special gift that also makes for a great display.
