1960 Optima Elite

$0.00 AUD

The Olympia typewriter factory split at the end of the Second World War with new production starting in West Germany under the Olympia brand and the old factory which was in East Germany making under the Optima brand name. This fabulous creme coloured model with silver chrome trim was made in 1960. Optima have a good reputation as quality typewriters and for having a nice "touch ". This one is in good working order and has chocolate brown keys with white letters and numbers. It has the Optima logo in silver to the front of the ribbon cover as well as  "Made in Germany " on the back. It types well and is in a good overall condition with just a few minor marks and small chips to the creme enamel finish mainly at the ends of the carriage and at the back edge of the ribbon cover. This one has the slightly larger "pica" size type face giving you 10 letters to the inch.

This typewriter has been professionally cleaned, serviced, adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and is fitted with a new top quality American made Universal ribbon on metal spools so its all ready for you to start typing on.

We can supply Universal TW38 typewriter ribbons from $13.90 each including postage. Available in plain black, red/black and a range of other colour options.

The typewriter measures 28 cm across by 30 cm deep by 13 cm high. It comes with it's original beige coloured carry case which is also in a very good functional condition. It has some small signs of wear and discolouration on both the inside and outside in places. The handle and metal closure works well.

We include a copy of an instruction booklet showing the features and how to change the ribbon. This is a good quality and very collectable  German made typewriter.

"My Olivetti arrived a couple days ago. Got a chance to test it out and it works like a dream (you wouldn’t guess it was nearly half a century old). Thank you for including the original metal spools, it adds a great touch to the machine. Looking forward to adding another typewriter to the collection sometime soon..." - Jake
