This is a lovely 1950's portable Oliver Courier typewriter with a crinkle black body and black keys with white letters and numbers on them .Oliver typewriters were originally made in the US until the company went into liquidation in 1928 and it was bought by UK investors who started manufacturing in Croydon in England up until 1959.
It is in full working order and we have given it a clean, re lubricated it and fitted a new ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on .
GR 1 typewriter ribbons can be purchased from many online suppliers or we can supply you with new ribbons when required and with this machine you would just rewind the ribbon onto the existing metal spools. They generally cost around $10 including postage . However a ribbon will last you a long time . To give you an idea , in an office environment with someone using a typewriter professionally a ribbon would last them around 3 months
There are some very minor marks to the metal body and at the top left side where the carriage lever has rubbed over the years but generally the body and silver chrome work are in very good condition.
It measures 28 cms by 28 cms and is 9 cms high and has the wonderful Oliver Courier logo on the front .
The carry case is in a generally good condition with only minor marks and scratches and some small discolouration in parts .The handle and clip works well and we include the original key. We also include a photo copy of an original Oliver Courier manual .
This is a very collectable compact vintage working typewriter in a very good general condition for its age with a nice industrial appeal . Not only would this make a great display item its also ready for you to take out of the box and start typing !
