Imperial good companion 3

Imperial typewriters were made in Leicester in England and the Good Companion model was first launched in 1932 . It was named after J. B. Priestley's book " The Good Companions" which had been published at the same time and the .collaboration with Priestley helped sell a huge number of Imperial typewriters.

This model is a number 3  and was made in the mid 1950's in England and has a metal body in a gunmetal grey colour in a shiny enamel finish . It has lighter grey plastic keys and green shift , back space and margin release keys which are all in a good condition . It has " Manufactured by the Imperial Typewriter Company Ltd Leicester England " on the back and the "Imperial " logo and Royal Warrant crest with "By Appointment to the late King George V "  at the front .

It is in a very good general condition with just a few minor marks to the paintwork mainly at the front bar and the back right hand corner .The silver chrome work is also in a nice condition  . It types well and we have fitted a brand new ribbon as well as giving it a clean, service , adjusting and testing it so its all ready for you to take out of the box and start typing on .

Universal GR1 typewriter ribbons can be purchased from many online suppliers or we can supply you with new ribbons when required .They generally cost around $10 including  postage . However a ribbon will last you a long time . To give you an idea , in an office environment with someone using a typewriter professionally a ribbon would last them around 3 months .

It comes with a smart brown coloured case which is also in a nice condition with just minor marks and wear to the inside and outside . The typewriter is attached onto its base board by a clip located at each side which you just slide if you want to use it off the board. The case has a working latch and handle  .

We do also include a photocopy of an original instruction booklet .

The typewriter measures 28cms by 30 cms by 11 cms high and the case is 34 cms by 34 cms and 12 cms high .

This is a wonderful 1950's Mad Men style typewriter in a fabulous industrial colour, Royal Warrant crest to the front , nice portable size and in very good working order  .

Delivery  anywhere within Australia is included in the price.
