Imperial typewriters were made in Leicester in England and the Good Companion model was first launched in 1932. It was named after J. B. Priestley's book " The Good Companions" which had been published at the same time and the collaboration with Priestley helped sell a huge number of Imperial typewriters.
This model is a number 5 and was made in 1959 in England and has a metal body in a pale pastel green enamel colour with black keys and dark green shift keys and space bar. It has " Manufactured by the Imperial Typewriter Company Ltd Leicester England " on the back and the "Imperial " logo badge at the front. The type face on this one is the standard "elite" size giving you 12 letters to the inch.
This typewriter has been professionally cleaned, serviced, adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and is fitted with a new top quality American made Universal black ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on.

The typewriter is in a good general condition for it's age, with some small marks to the paintwork mainly at the front edge, on the ribbon cover at at the back corners.
It comes with a smart tan coloured carry case which has a clip to close and 2 clips to hold the typewriter to its base when in transit. The handle is sound and the case is in a good functional condition with just a few marks of wear on the inside and outside. There is some slight wear to the right hand zip at the back but the zip does function with no problems.
We also include a copy of an original instruction booklet.
The typewriter measures 32cm by 28 cm by 11 cm high.
This is a wonderful 1950's Imperial typewriter in a lovely pastel colour and in good working order.
